Enabling the Maplex Label Engine

  1. Right-click the data frame and click Data Frame Properties. The Data Frame Properties dialog box appears.
  2. Click the General tab. This map has a reference scale of 1:1,200.
  3. Click the Label Engine drop-down arrow and click Maplex Label Engine.
  4. Click OK.
