Hiking & Activities

What is GeoEnrichment?

Geoenrichment is a process that assigns demographic attributes to polygon layers based on geographic location. Similar to a spatial join, it leverages data from the Living Atlas of the World to enrich your data. For example, geoenrichment sources can be any demographic information such as education, income, or age.

Which data products and services does ArcGIS online provide?

ArcGIS Online is a collaborative web GIS that allows you to use, create, and share maps, scenes, apps, layers, analytics, and data. You get access to content in ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World, ArcGIS apps, and cloud infrastructure, where you can add items; publish web layers; and create maps, apps, and scenes.

What is data enrichment in ArcGIS?

Data enrichment is an ArcGIS service function that enhances your location data, such as an address, with information about the people and places nearby. It is performed by the GeoEnrichment Service in Esri products like ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Business Analyst, ArcGIS Platform, and more.

How do I set data source in ArcGIS?

To change the data source of a layer or a stand-alone table, open its Properties dialog box. On the Source tab, click Set Data Source and browse to the data source. To automate the updating of data sources with Python, see Updating and fixing data sources.

How does geoenrichment add demographic variables to this dataset?

How does geoenrichment add demographic variables to this dataset? Geoenrichment uses the underlying demographic variables of the census geography (county, census tract, and so on) that the coffee shops fall within.

Where does ArcGIS get its data?

The data used when displaying a layer comes from various sources. Some data sources are file based, such as comma-separated values (CSV) files, or open standards based, such as KML. Other data sources are native to ArcGIS, such as hosted layers and ArcGIS Server services.

What kind of database does ArcGIS use?

ArcGIS supports the following cloud-based database services: Microsoft Azure SQL Database. Microsoft Azure Database for PostgreSQL. Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.

What is the main data source of GIS?

Quote from video:

What is included in ArcGIS online?

ArcGIS Online includes interactive maps and 3D scenes that allow your entire organization to explore, understand, and measure your geographic data. Access ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World, a dynamic collection of maps, scenes, data layers, imagery, analytics, and apps from the ArcGIS community.

What kinds of data can be published as an ArcGIS Online hosted web layer?

You can publish your maps and data as hosted layers to ArcGIS Online. When you do this, ArcGIS Online takes care of hosting your layers and the data that populates them. Hence, these are called hosted layers.

What are services in ArcGIS?

A service represents a geospatial resource—such as a map, locator, or geodatabase connection—made available to client apps. GIS products in ArcGIS Enterprise, such as web maps and apps, are powered by ArcGIS Server services.
