How do I change the color of a point in QGIS?

By default, when you select a map feature in QGIS, the feature is shown using a Yellow colour. However, choosing Settings > Options > on the Canvas & Legend Tab > and the Default Map Appearance section you can change the default selection colour to any colour of your choice – e.g. bright Pink.
