Can a file geodatabase be versioned?

No, versioning is not possible in a file geodatabase. File geodatabases are designed to be edited by a single user and do not support geodatabase versioning. Versioning, a mechanism in which all data edits are recorded as rows in delta tables, is only supported in an enterprise geodatabase.

What is geodatabase versioning?

What Is Versioning? Versioning is the mechanism that enables concurrent multiuser geodatabase editing in ArcSDE geodatabases. It uses an optimistic concurrency data-locking model, which means no locks are applied to affected features and rows during long transactions.

How do I fix a corrupt geodatabase?

Unfortunately, the best way to recover corrupt file geodatabases is to create a new file geodatabase, copy out what can be recovered, then pull in contents of your backups for the rest. You can try to work with Tech Support, but if the data no longer exists on disk, there isn’t really anything they can do.

How do you maintain database versioning?

You must:

  1. Ensure all database code is covered (structure, code, reference content, grants)
  2. Ensure the version control repository acts as the single source of truth.
  3. Ensure the deployment script being executed knows environment status when the script is executing.
  4. Ensure the deployment script handles and merges conflicts.

What is the purpose of schema versioning?

Schema versioning deals with the need to retain current data, and the ability to query and update it, through alternate database structures. (The structure of a database is held in a schema (pl. schemata or schemas).

Can you copy a geodatabase?
