How do you subtract two raster layers in Arcgis?

Procedure

  1. In ArcMap, navigate to ArcToolbox > Spatial Analyst Tools > Map Algebra > Raster Calculator.
  2. In the Raster Calculator window, double-click one of the rasters to be analysed, click the minus sign (-), and double-click the second raster.
  3. Specify the name and location for the output raster.
  4. Click OK.

Raster Calculator is designed to execute a single-line algebraic expression using multiple tools and operators. When multiple tools or operators are used in one expression, the performance of this equation will generally be faster than executing each of the operators or tools individually.

  2. Drag the tool over the raster cells to erase them. When using the Magic Erase tool, connected cells are erased, although any connected cells that extended beyond the dragged box are not erased.
