SOREL Mens Buxton Waterproof Major – Review
ReviewSOREL Buxton Lite Lace Plus: Are These My Winter Sole-Mates? (Fingers Crossed!)
Okay, real talk: winter’s barreling towards us, and you know what that means. The dreaded boot search. Every year it’s the same drill – trying to find something that can actually survive the slushy apocalypse without looking like you’re about to climb Everest. This year, I took a gamble on the SOREL Men’s Buxton Lite Lace Plus Waterproof Boot. So, are they up to the challenge? Let’s dive in.
First Glance & the Nitty-Gritty
Right off the bat, these boots look like a SOREL. You know, that classic vibe – tough, but not like you’re lugging around concrete blocks. The product details say the upper’s a mix of suede and PU-coated leather, which gives them a decent look. But the real kicker? SOREL’s claiming they’re waterproof, with a seam-sealed construction. Honestly, that’s what sold me. I’m so over that squishy sock feeling after just a quick dash through a puddle. Plus, they’re packing 200g of insulation. Haven’t hit sub-zero temps yet, but they feel toasty enough just kicking around the house.
Now, down to the techy stuff. We’re talking a molded lightweight EVA midsole and a removable molded EVA footbed with a textile topcover. Translation? They’re comfy. Seriously, way more comfortable than some of those bare-bones winter boots I’ve suffered through. And the rubber sole? Looks like it’ll actually grip the ice, which is always a bonus when you’re trying not to faceplant on the sidewalk.
My (Imaginary) Adventure
Alright, so I haven’t exactly battled a blizzard in these yet. But I did stage a little “winter simulation.” Picture this: a brisk morning, a desperate need for caffeine, and a walk to my favorite coffee shop. Okay, no snow, I admit it. But I made sure to stomp through every puddle I could find. And guess what? Dry feet! Major win. They felt surprisingly light on my feet, too. I mean, some snow boots feel like you’re training for a marathon, but these were actually… dare I say… pleasant to walk in? The laces let me cinch them up nicely around my ankles, which is key for not twisting an ankle on those surprise ice patches.
A Few Potential Hiccups (Maybe)
Okay, here’s where I get a little picky. The product page says the laces aren’t waterproof. Seriously, SOREL? That’s like putting a screen door on a submarine. I can already see those laces getting soaked and turning into little icy ropes. I’m thinking a good dose of waterproofing spray might be in order.
And then there’s the “shaft circumference: 1.” Um… what? I’m guessing that’s a typo, because unless these boots are designed for, like, a toddler, that’s not gonna work. I’ll need to measure that myself when I get my hands on them to make sure they actually fit over my calves, especially with thick socks.
The Early Word
So, bottom line? I’m cautiously optimistic about the SOREL Men’s Buxton Lite Lace Plus Waterproof Boot. They seem like a solid choice for everyday winter life – a good mix of warmth, dryness, and comfort. Of course, the real test is when winter actually arrives. I’ll let you know how they hold up after a few blizzards. Stay tuned!
