That’s why my ears perked up when I saw the SCHIK Tactical Fishing Lure Camping Backpack. A bag that claims to handle both? Color me intrigued.
First Glance:
The “Green” isn’t exactly forest green; think more military surplus. Not a bad look, honestly. The nylon feels like it could take a beating, and the zippers seem up to the task. But here’s the immediate question: it’s compact – almost too compact. Is this thing really going to hold all my gear?
What I Liked:
- Jack-of-All-Trades: This is where the SCHIK tries to win you over. Backpack, satchel, handbag – it morphs into whatever you need. I can already picture myself slinging it over my shoulder as a satchel for those quick fishing trips after work.
- Rod Ready: Can’t have a fishing backpack without a way to carry your rods, right? The SCHIK’s got you covered. The straps look secure, but I’d think twice before trusting them with my prized graphite on a tough trail. Just sayin’.
- MOLLE Mania: Those little webbing straps on the side? That’s MOLLE, and it’s your friend. Clip on extra pouches, your lucky fishing hat, whatever. I instantly attached my multi-tool (essential!) and a mini first-aid kit (because, well, you never know).
Hmm, Maybe Not So Good:
- Space Cadet (Limited Edition): Okay, the size is a concern. If you pack light, maybe you’re good. But me? I like options. I barely squeezed in my small tackle box, a water bottle, and a light jacket. Forget about bringing that extra sandwich.
- Built to Last? TBD: The nylon feels okay, but I’ve been burned before. I’ve had “tactical” bags that looked tough but fell apart faster than a cheap fishing lure. The jury’s still out on this one.
