Salomon AERO Glide: A Blogger’s Take on Comfort and Bounce
ReviewOkay, fellow runners, let’s talk shoes – specifically, the Salomon AERO Glide. I’ve been logging miles for years, always chasing that perfect balance of cushion and responsiveness. So, when the AERO Glide promised both, I was eager to lace up and see what it could do.
Right away, slipping these on felt good. The tongue and collar? Seriously plush. They just hug your foot in a way that makes you think, “Yeah, this is gonna be a comfy run.” And the colorway? I went with the Black/Alloy/Coral Gold – stylish, but not screaming for attention. You know, just how I like it.
Now, Salomon’s all about that “Energy Foam” in the midsole, and honestly, it’s not just marketing hype. You get a real bounce with each step. It’s not like you’re gonna be breaking any speed records, but it definitely puts a little pep in your stride. Plus, the high stack height? My knees were thanking me after a recent 10-miler. Seriously, legs felt surprisingly fresh.
And then there’s that “R.Camber” thing – the rocker geometry. Sounds fancy, right? Basically, it just helps your foot roll smoothly from heel to toe. Even on days when my form’s a little sloppy (we all have them, right?), these shoes seem to keep me moving forward.
Fit-wise, the AERO Glide is spot-on for me at a size 9. The upper’s a lightweight mesh, which is great for breathability. No sweaty feet here, even on those warmer runs. But, gotta be honest, the upper does feel a little…basic. It gets the job done, sure, but it doesn’t have that luxurious feel you find in some pricier shoes. I’ve even noticed a bit of creasing after just a few runs, which makes me wonder about how well it’ll hold up over time.
Here’s the thing: while I love these for easy runs and racking up mileage, I wouldn’t grab them for a race. They’re not exactly speed demons. They can handle a bit of tempo work, but that soft cushioning makes it tough to really crank it up. For me, they’re perfect for daily training, recovery days, and those longer distances where comfort is king. I even took them on a light trail – performed okay, but stick to the roads.
Okay, a few gripes. That upper? Could definitely use some love. It’s a bit thin, and I’d like a more secure feel. And the outsole, while decent on pavement, gets a little slippery when things are wet.
So, the verdict? The Salomon AERO Glide is a solid pick if you’re after a comfy, cushioned shoe for everyday running and long hauls. That bouncy midsole and smooth rocker? They make running a joy. And the plush fit? Happy feet, happy runner. Sure, the upper could be better, but overall, the AERO Glide delivers great performance and value. If you need a reliable workhorse for most of your training, give these a shot. Just don’t expect them to turn you into Usain Bolt.
