How do I save a layer property in QGIS?

To save style in the database, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Layer Properties dialog.
  2. Click on the Style button at the bottom of the Properties dialog and go to the Save Style submenu.
  3. Select the Save in database (format) item, where format can be spatialite or postgres, depending on the database type:

Why can I not edit a layer in QGIS?

To edit a file in QGIS, firstly make sure the layer is open in QGIS! Before editing the layer need to be set as editable. To do this, make sure the Digitizing toolbar is visible (it should be by default). This can also be achieved by right clicking on the layer in the layer control and selecting Toggle Editing.
 

How do I change layer properties in QGIS?

To access the Layer Properties dialog:

  1. In the Layers panel, double-click the layer or right-click and select Properties… from the pop-up menu;

Every layer, including all possible data processed, can be saved as a shapefile.

  1. Go to the Layers Panel on the left side.
  2. Right-click on the relevant layer.
  3. Click on Save as…
  4. Select Esri Shapefile.
  5. Choose a name and a location.
  6. Click on OK.

 

Why can’t I edit a shapefile?

If the shapefiles in your map are stored in different folders, you are not able to edit them in the same edit session. You need to stop editing on the first folder, then start editing on the other folder.

To make only one layer editable in your map or scene, right-click the layer, and click Make this the only editable layer.

  1. On the View tab, in the Windows group, click Contents . The Contents pane appears.
  2. Click the List By Editing tab .

To avoid data loss when closing a project with temporary scratch layers, you can save these layers to any vector format supported by QGIS:

  1. clicking the indicator icon next to the layer;
  2. selecting the Make permanent entry in the layer contextual menu;

How do you save a feature layer as a shapefile?

You can convert any layer to shape file by exporting it.

  1. On the Table of content of the layers, do right click on specific layer that we want to convert.
  2. From the pop up menu, click Data > Export Data.
  3. On the dialog, rename the output file name and folder if necessary.


How do you make a layer permanent in QGIS?

If you wish to save a copy of a Temporary layer so that you can use it later or email to a colleague, then you can simply right click on the layer in the Layers Panel and choose Make Permanent.
