PRIFO Fanny Pack: Is This Tactical Waist Bag a Hiking Hero or a Hipster Hazard?
ReviewAlright, let’s dive into the world of fanny packs. Seriously! Remember those things? For years, they were the go-to for tourists and dads rocking socks with sandals at theme parks. But guess what? They’re back! Call it gorpcore, call it a need to be hands-free, whatever – the fanny pack is making a comeback. I’ve always been a backpack devotee, but lately, for quick jaunts and trail runs, lugging a full pack felt like overkill. So, naturally, I had to try the PRIFO Men Waist Fanny Pack.
First Look: Tactical… Teal-ish?
Okay, so the “green” isn’t exactly forest ranger green. It’s more of a muted teal, which, honestly, I didn’t hate. The nylon feels pretty tough, and overall, it seems well-made for the price. No question, it’s got that whole “tactical” thing going on, complete with MOLLE webbing (we’ll get to that in a sec). The size – about 22512 cm – looked perfect for stashing my essentials: keys, phone, a trusty multi-tool, and maybe a snack to keep the hangries at bay.
Hitting the Trail: Function vs. Frustration
I put the PRIFO pack to the test on a recent hike up to catch the sunset. The main compartment? Surprisingly roomy! I crammed in my phone, wallet, a mini first-aid kit (safety first!), and even a packable rain jacket – because you never know, right? The zippered pockets were a lifesaver, keeping everything from turning into a chaotic mess.
Now, here’s where things got a little… interesting. The waist strap, while adjustable, felt kinda cheap. I kept having to tighten it, which got old fast. And that MOLLE webbing? Yeah, it looks cool, but I’m not entirely convinced it’s all that useful. I clipped my keys on with a carabiner, but it felt clunky and awkward. Maybe I’m just not tactical enough.
Design Quirks: Huh?
A couple of design choices left me scratching my head. Like that extra pocket on the front – as one reviewer on AliExpress mentioned, it just adds bulk. I can see maybe someone finding it useful, but for me, it was just in the way. And those D-rings sewn onto the bottom? Seriously, what are those even for? Attaching a tiny yoga mat? I’m stumped.
The Bottom Line: Decent, But Not Perfect
All in all, the PRIFO Men Waist Fanny Pack is a solid choice if you’re hunting for a budget-friendly waist bag for light outdoor adventures. It’s got room for your stuff, seems reasonably durable, and keeps things organized. But that flimsy strap, the extra bulk, and those weird design choices keep it from being a total home run.
So, who’s this for?
- Weekend warriors who want a lighter alternative to a full-blown backpack.
- Anyone who needs a versatile and affordable waist bag for everyday errands.
- Folks who dig that tactical look.
And who should skip it?
- Hardcore hikers who need a pack that can handle serious abuse.
- Minimalists who prefer a sleek, streamlined design.
- Anyone who demands a super comfy, rock-solid waist strap.
My final verdict? 3.5 out of 5 stars.

It’s a good effort, and with a few tweaks, the PRIFO could be a real contender. As it is, it’s a decent value, but be ready to compromise on a few things.
