OpenStreetMap API has been developed for the purpose of updating and editing maps and has basic functionality beyond that.
How to add POI to OpenStreetMap?
The most practicable way to import (many) POIs seems to be as follows:
- Convert your file containing the POIs (for example a gpx file) to osm-format using a conversion tool.
- Load the osm-file into JOSM.
- Tag the POIs in JOSM.
- Upload the changes to OSM with JOSM.
