How do I open Sentinel 1 in ENVI?

The Import Sentinel-1 tool was used to import the scene into ENVI SARscape.



To view a co-polarized (VV) image, follow these steps:

  1. Select File > Open from the ENVI main menu bar.
  2. Navigate to the SARGettingStarted directory.
  3. Select the file sentinel1_83_20171212_095750732_IW_SIW1_D_VV_slc_list_pwr and click Open.

How do I download Sentinel 1 images?

Follow these steps to download free Sentinel satellite data:

  1. Create a User Account. Go to Sentinels Scientific Data Hub.
  2. Select Your Area of Interest. Where is your study area?
  3. Download Sentinel Data.

How do I open a Landsat ENVI file?

From the ENVI main menu select File | Open and navigate to the _MTL. TXT file. ENVI will automatically open the Landsat image with all bands in the correct order. The reflective bands are placed in one file, the thermal band(s) in another file.

Sentinel-1C and 1D are in development with Sentinel-1C set for launch in April 2023. There are a wide range of applications for the data collected via the Sentinel-1 mission.
