Mandarina Duck MD20: Chic Simplicity That Doesn’t Quite Soar
ReviewOkay, so as a travel and lifestyle blogger, you know I’m always searching for that holy grail: the perfect daypack. Something that looks good, works hard, and won’t fall apart after a few adventures. That’s why I was genuinely excited to get my hands on the Mandarina Duck Women’s MD20 in classic black. I mean, Mandarina Duck has a reputation, right? Stylish and well-made?

First impressions? It definitely looked the part. That “Nero/Black” is super versatile, and the whole vibe is sleek and modern. The size seemed spot-on too – not huge and bulky, but big enough to stash my everyday gear. The zip closure feels solid, and those external zip pockets? Genius for keys and my phone when I’m on the go i.
But here’s where things got a little… complicated. I took this backpack on a weekend trip – a quick city escape – and that’s when some of the shine started to fade. The 20-liter capacity was fine for my minimalist packing style, but the inside? The “tasche scomparto,” or compartment pockets, were a bit…meh. Seriously, a laptop sleeve would have been a game-changer. And maybe a few more pockets for all the little things that end up floating around in my bag i. You know how it is.
And those shoulder straps? They were okay for a bit, but after a full day of pounding the pavement, my shoulders were definitely singing a different tune. A little extra padding would have made a world of difference. Just sayin’.
So, what’s to love?
- Style, obviously. This backpack is undeniably chic. You can wear it with pretty much anything, from jeans and a t-shirt to something a bit dressier.
- It’s light as a feather! Seriously, at just over a pound, you barely notice you’re wearing it i. Huge plus when you’re already lugging around a million other things.
- Brand cred. Mandarina Duck usually delivers on quality, and this bag seems well-made. Time will tell, of course, but the initial impression is good.
And the not-so-great?
- Organization is…basic. If you’re a super-organized person, this bag might drive you a little crazy. The internal pockets are pretty simple.
- Comfort could be better. Those straps need an upgrade for all-day adventures.
- The “Women’s” Thing: Honestly? I don’t get it. This bag is pretty unisex. Anyone could rock it.
The Bottom Line:
The Mandarina Duck MD20 is a stylish, lightweight backpack that’s perfect for everyday errands or a light day trip. But if you need a ton of organization or plan on wearing it for hours on end, you might want to keep looking. It’s a good bag, but it could be great. I’m giving it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. It has potential!
