Spatial Join in QGIS – Steps

  1. 1.) Open Join attribute by location tool.
  2. 2.) Set the Dialog box as follows: Target vector layer is the layer to which we want to add the attribute. The join vector layer is the layer from which we are transferring the attributes.
  3. 3.) A new layer is added to the table of contents.


What does spatial join mean?

spatial join. [spatial analysis] A type of table join operation in which fields from one layer’s attribute table are appended to another layer’s attribute table based on the relative locations of the features in the two layers.
