Does reclassification result in a new raster?

Reclassification is useful when you want to replace the values in the input raster with new values. This could be due to finding out that the value of a cell should actually be a different value, for example, the land use in an area changed over time.

How do I reclassify raster values in Qgis?

The alternative tool is the Reclassify by table tool in Raster analysis in the Processing Toolbox.

  1. Open the tool.
  2. Choose aspect as the Input raster layer.
  3. Click on the … of Reclassification table.
  4. Click on the Add row button and add 5 rows.
  5. Save the layer as reclassified.tif in the exercise_data/raster_analysis/ folder.
