How to interpret the values of moisture flux convergence?

Earth Science

Asked by: Danielle Smith

What is moisture flux convergence?

Moisture flux convergence (MFC) is a term in the conservation of water vapor equation and was first calculated in the 1950s and 1960s as a vertically integrated quantity to predict rainfall associated with synoptic-scale systems.

What is moisture flux divergence?

Its horizontal divergence is the rate of moisture spreading outward from a point, per square metre. This parameter is accumulated over a particular time period which depends on the data extracted.

How do you calculate moisture flux?

Convective moisture flux is defined by g0 = βp( psat(Text) − psat(T)). If Partial vapor pressure is selected, enter an External partial vapor pressure, pv,ext. Convective moisture flux is defined by g0 = βp(pv,ext − psat(T)).

What is moisture flux?

Moisture flux

is the density of air, and P is pressure at the ground surface.

How do you calculate moisture regain?

Moisture regain ,R =W/DX100% Moisture content ,C= W/(W+D)X100%

How do you calculate moisture content of soil?

Calculate the moisture content of the soil by subtracting the weight of the dry soil from the weight of the moist soil, and then dividing by the weight of the dry soil. Although the measurement is simple, it is important to determine soil moisture content in order to better understand soil characteristics.

How do you calculate moisture content in wet basis?

Quote from video: Or wet sample mathematically moisture content wet basis we will use a WB in the subscript equals mass of water in the sample divided by mass of the moist sample.

How do you calculate moisture content on a dry basis?

Dry basis moisture content (designated Md in the text) is described by the percentage equivalent of the ratio of the weight of water (WW) to the weight of the dry matter (Wd). Note that dry weight moisture content can range from 0 to very large percentages.

What is moisture regain value?

Moisture regain

It is expressed as a weight/weight percentage (w/w%) of water in a fiber versus the fiber’s dry weight. Different textile fibers have distinct moisture regain. For example, cotton has a moisture regain of 7%, and silk has a moisture regain of 11%.

Which fiber has 0% moisture regain?

Moisture Content: It is the ratio between the weight of water with the total weight of the material express in percentage. Olefin, Polypropylene, Carbon, Graphite, Glass fiber has no Moisture Regain or Moisture Content.

What is the meaning of moisture regain?

Description. The amount of moisture that a material is able to reabsorb after its has been dried. Moisture regain is expressed as the weight/weight percentage (w/w%) of water in a material versus the material’s dry weight.

Why moisture regain is important?

However, by increasing the humidity of the air surrounding the textile directly after processing, the material experiences “regain”. Moisture is reabsorbed by the textile, thus improving the quality and performance of the fabric. This regain also has a direct impact on the weight of the textile.

What is the standard moisture regain of viscous?

Standard Moisture Regain and Moisture Content of Fibers

Textile Fiber Moisture Regain (MR%) Moisture Content (MC%)
Cotton 8.5 7.34
Jute 13.75 12.1
Viscose 11.0 9.91
Silk 11.0 9.91
