How do you find the closest point to a point?

The idea is to split the point set into two halves with a vertical line, find the closest pair within each half, and then find the closest pair between the two halves. The result of finding the closest pair within each half speeds up finding the closest pair between the halves.

How do you select part of a polyline?

You can select a single arc or line segment, also called a subobject, within a polyline by pressing the Ctrl key when you click over it (not available in AutoCAD LT).

How do you simplify a polyline in AutoCAD?

To simplify a polygon or polyline:

  1. Select the polygon and/or polyline to simplify.
  2. Select Modify > Drafting Aids > Simplify Polys.
  3. Set the parameters and click OK to simplify the polygon/polyline.

How do I convert a line to a Pline in AutoCAD?

To convert lines to a polyline:

In Ribbon View, on the Format tab, in the Picture group, click Drawing Tools, and then click Convert Lines to Polyline.

How do you find the closest point on a line to another line?

Simply check the distance between your start point and the point on the line is less then the distance between the start point and the end of the line.

How do you find the nearest point of a polygon?

The basic algorithm is to check every segment of the polygon and find the closest point for it. This will either be the perpedicular point (if it is on the segment) or one of the endpoints. After doing this for all segments, pick the point with the smallest total difference.

How Do I Select a polyline area in AutoCAD?

AREA command:

Select Object from this prompt and click on the boundary of Rectangle or Circle for which you want to find the area. The area of the object will appear above command line along with its perimeter or circumference. In a similar way, you can find the area of any closed Polyline geometry with AREA command.

How do I select certain lines in AutoCAD?
