Data in an enterprise geodatabase can be either versioned or nonversioned. If the geographic data is versioned, it can be edited in a specific version of the geodatabase. On the other hand, editing nonversioned data is the equivalent of performing standard database transactions.

Accessing the Upgrade Geodatabase tool

  1. Start ArcMap and open the Catalog window, or start ArcCatalog.
  2. Right-click the geodatabase you want to upgrade.
  3. Click Properties.
  4. Click the General tab.
  5. Click Upgrade Geodatabase.

  5. When the tool finishes, remove it from the map by right-clicking it in the Table of Contents.
