How do I change encoding in Qgis?

For QGIS:

  1. Add the Shapefile layer.
  2. Right-click on the layer and select properties.
  3. Select the General tab and set “Data source encoding” to UTF-8 > Apply > OK.
  4. Right-click on the layer and select save as.
  5. Enter a file name and set the encoding to system > OK.

 

How do I change my UTF?

UTF-8 Encoding in Notepad (Windows)

  1. Open your CSV file in Notepad.
  2. Click File in the top-left corner of your screen.
  3. Click Save as
  4. In the dialog which appears, select the following options: In the “Save as type” drop-down, select All Files. In the “Encoding” drop-down, select UTF-8.
  5. Click Save.
