Regional SpecificsSo, How Many Campuses Does UWA Really Have?
Okay, so you’re wondering about the University of Western Australia (UWA) and its campuses. Fair enough! It’s a pretty important question if you’re thinking of studying there, right? UWA is a big name, a real “sandstone university” as they say, and the oldest in WA. But let’s get down to brass tacks: UWA operates primarily across three main locations.
The big daddy, the one everyone thinks of, is the Crawley Campus. Picture this: you’re strolling along the Swan River, the sun’s out, and you’re surrounded by these gorgeous old limestone buildings. That’s Crawley. It’s not just pretty, though; it’s the heart of UWA. Sprawling across 65 hectares, it’s where most of the action happens – lectures, research, the whole shebang. Back in 2023, they had around 25,000 students buzzing around there. It’s a vibrant place, trust me.
Now, there’s also UWA Claremont. It’s close to Crawley, a short hop away, but it’s more of a facility than a full-blown campus, if you catch my drift.
Then you’ve got UWA Albany. Albany’s a bit of a trek, down in the Great Southern region – think a 4-5 hour drive from Perth. It’s a different vibe altogether, focusing on regional stuff like development and looking after the natural resources down there. They’ve got a pretty high-tech setup for learning, which is cool.
But hold on, there’s more to the story! UWA also has a “UWA Health Campus” at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre in Nedlands. So, while it’s not a standalone campus in the traditional sense, it’s definitely a significant presence. And if you’re thinking globally, UWA has connections with institutions in Malaysia and Singapore, where you can actually study for a UWA degree. Pretty neat, huh? They’re really spreading their wings. Plus, they’ve got these study hubs popping up all over the place – Mandurah, Joondalup, Geraldton… bringing the uni closer to the people.
And get this – UWA is going international in a big way! They’ve got the green light to set up two campuses in India, one in Mumbai and another in Chennai. That’s huge! The University Grants Commission gave them the go-ahead in June 2025, so keep an eye out for that.
