Hansen Nordvik Lightweight Waterproof Rubber – Review
ReviewLet’s be real, finding decent rain boots can feel like a never-ending quest. I’ve always wanted a pair that could handle nasty weather without making me look like I’m about to clean out a horse stall. Living here in Nashville, with its unpredictable downpours, that’s a real concern. So, I was pretty excited to try the Helly Hansen Nordvik 2 Rubber Boots.
My first thought when I unboxed them? “Wow, these are actually kinda cool.” Seriously, these aren’t your grandma’s rubber boots. The design is surprisingly sleek, hitting right at the ankle in a way that’s way more modern than those clunky, knee-high things I’ve suffered through before. The rubber has this great matte finish, and honestly, they look good with just about anything – jeans, chinos, even shorts if you’re feeling a little daring.
But looks aren’t everything, right? I’ve worn these boots on a bunch of rainy days now, everything from quick dashes to the store to long walks with my crazy golden doodle. And you know what? They’re seriously comfy. The EVA insole gives you a nice little cushion, and even after a couple of hours on my feet, I didn’t feel like my dogs were barking.
The “Max-Grip” outsole? It’s legit. I felt totally secure walking on slick pavement and even on some pretty muddy grass. No ice-skating impression here, which is always a win.
Okay, so nothing’s perfect. I did notice the fit is a little snug. I usually wear a size 10, and these in a 10 fit perfectly, maybe even a tad tight. So, if you’re planning on rocking thick socks, definitely think about going up half a size. Also, because they’re low-cut, you might get a little splash action if you decide to go puddle-jumping in the deep end. But honestly, that’s the price you pay for style, and I’m willing to pay it.
So, here’s the bottom line: I’m genuinely happy with the Helly Hansen Nordvik 2 Rubber Boots. They nail that sweet spot of style and practicality. They keep my feet dry, they’re comfy enough to wear all day, and they don’t make me feel like I’ve given up on fashion. If you’re hunting for rain boots that can handle whatever the weather throws at you and still look good doing it, these are absolutely worth a look.
The Good:
- Seriously stylish design
- Totally waterproof
- Surprisingly comfy insole
- Grip like a gecko
- Light as a feather
The Not-So-Good:
- Fit runs a little small
- Low-cut means potential splashes
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend giving these a try!
