How do I download WorldClim?
Download WorldClim Data Go to http://www.worldclim.org/ and follow the links to your dataset of interest. For this example we are using current global climate data, so we would follow the “Current” link (http://www.worldclim.org/current/ ).
What is WorldClim data?
WorldClim is a set of global climate layers (climate grids) with a spatial resolution of about 1 square kilometer. The data can be used for mapping and spatial modeling in a GIS or with other computer programs. If you are not familiar with such programs, you can try DIVA-GIS or the R raster package.
How is WorldClim data generated?
The data layers were generated through interpolation of average monthly climate data from weather stations on a 30 arc-second resolution grid (often referred to as “1 km2” resolution).
How do you cite World Clim?
Citation: Fick, S.E. and R.J. Hijmans, 2017. WorldClim 2: new 1km spatial resolution climate surfaces for global land areas.
How do I download CRU climate data?
NetCDF files of the CRU data can be downloaded through the data browser for a given dataset selecting the “. nc” file or by using the Web Processing Service (WPS) and selecting WPS as the output format. The CRU NetCDF files can then be loaded into various GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
How do I download chelsa climate data?
Downloads are provided via our download server. There you can download all files manually, or use Cyberduck or WGET to download files in bulk. The technical documentation including a description of the different datasets, the available variables, and the different units can also be found here.
What is Bioclim?
BIOCLIM is a species distribution modelling system created by CSIRO in partnership with the Federal Government’s Bureau of Flora and Fauna.
Is CMIP5 a GCM?
CMIP5 involves 20 climate modeling research groups around the world with 40 GCMs. CMIP5 outputs include historical climate simulations for years 1850–2005 and climate projections for near term (out to about 2035) and long term (out to 2100 and beyond) by considering 4 Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs).
