How do you define projection in QGIS?
To determine the projection of a layer, right click on the layer under the Layers window on the left side of the QGIS window. Next, under the Properties window, click on the Metadata tab. The CRS assigned to the layer can be seen under the label Layer Spatial Reference System.

To change the projection of the current map project, click within the map projection information to pull up the CRS (Coordinator reference system) properties window. Using this window, we can search for and set a new projection or coordinate system for our map.
