  1. Insert the points layer: In QGIS, insert the shapefile map containing the points layer, through the menu: Layer -> Add Layer -> Add Vector Layer.
  2. Create a buffer around the points: Select from the menu: Vector -> Geoprocessing Tools -> Buffer(s).
