Truth is, there’s no single answer. Slamming up Ventoux can take anywhere from a couple of hours to… well, let’s just say longer than you’d like. Several things play a role.

Sault: The “easy” route, but don’t let that fool you. It’s still Ventoux! At 25.7 km and 4.4%, it’s more gradual. Think 2.5 to 4 hours for recreational riders, and 2 to 3 for the speed demons. The lavender fields are lovely, though. A good option if you’re not quite ready for the Bédoin punishment.

Maloaucène: Often overlooked, but just as tough as Bédoin. Similar distance and gradient (21.5 km, 7.5%). Expect similar times to Bédoin. Some say it’s slightly less scenic, but who’s looking at the view when your legs are screaming?
