How do I cut a shapefile into another shapefile?

Clip the data

  1. Open ArcToolbox.
  2. Select the Clip tool which can be found under Analysis Tools > Extract.
  3. Select each Shapefile or layer file in turn as the input feature, and select the polygon Shapefile surrounding the area of interest you created previously as the clip feature.

How do you clip a polygon in Python?

clip() will clip the data to the boundary of the polygon layer that you select. If there are multiple polygons in your clip_obj object, clip() will clip the data to the total boundary of all polygons in the layer. Now you can plot the data to see the newly “clipped” points layer.

Can GeoPandas read shapefile?
