BOGS Sauvie Slip-On II: The Ultimate Mud-Wrestling (and Grocery Shopping) Companion

Review

Let’s be real, living in the Pacific Northwest means one thing: rain. Lots and lots of rain. And with rain comes mud, puddles that could swallow a small car, and the constant need for footwear that can handle it all. That’s where the BOGS Sauvie Slip-On II comes in. I’ve been kicking around in these for a few weeks now, and I’m finally ready to give you the lowdown.

First off, these aren’t your dainty little ballet flats. These BOGS look like they’re ready for action. The rubber feels tough, and the tread? Seriously impressive. I’m pretty sure they could grip a greased watermelon. Getting them on is a breeze, too. No awkward dance moves required – they just slip right on. Apparently, BOGS redesigned them for easier entry, and I’m a believer.

Now, about that whole “waterproof” claim… BOGS promises 100% waterproofness, and guess what? They deliver. I’ve tromped through sopping soccer fields (cheering on my niece, of course), braved countless dog walks in downpours, and even taken an unexpected plunge into a deceptively deep puddle while admiring the fall colors. My feet? Bone dry. Seriously, it’s like magic.

But let’s be honest, waterproof is only half the battle. Comfort is key, and these BOGS don’t disappoint. Forget those stiff, clunky rubber boots of your childhood. The REBOUND BLOOM footbed is surprisingly cushy. I’ve worn these things for hours running errands, and my feet still feel happy. Plus, the DuraFresh thingamajig seems to work wonders – no stinky feet, even after a day of serious gardening.

And speaking of serious, let’s talk traction. Living where it’s perpetually damp means you need shoes that can grip. The BioGrip outsole on these BOGS is no joke. It’s got deep lugs that provide a solid grip on wet pavement, muddy trails, and even those sneaky patches of ice that pop up when you least expect them. I felt totally secure, even when navigating some seriously slick situations.

Okay, so are they perfect? Not quite. Because they’re slip-ons, I did notice a bit of heel slippage now and then, especially when I was hoofing it uphill. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning. And let’s face it, they’re still rubber boots. While they’re definitely more stylish than some, you probably wouldn’t wear them to a fancy wedding.

Bottom line? The BOGS Sauvie Slip-On II is a fantastic choice if you need a reliable, waterproof, and comfy shoe that you can just slip on and go. They’re perfect for gardening, running errands in the rain, walking the dog, or just generally dealing with the messy realities of life. Sure, they might not win any fashion awards, but their practicality and performance make them worth every penny. Trust me, your feet will thank you.
