- Insert the points layer: In QGIS, insert the shapefile map containing the points layer, through the menu: Layer -> Add Layer -> Add Vector Layer.
- Create a buffer around the points: Select from the menu: Vector -> Geoprocessing Tools -> Buffer(s).
How do I create a point along a line in Qgis?
Method 2 – QGIS Geometry Tool
- From the menu select Vector>> Geometry Tools>> Extract nodes.
- Set the following: The source layer to be the line file you wish to convert. The output file name and location. Click “Run” and the tool will create a new point file which contains all vertices along the line.
